Imperva Announces Reverse Proxy Migration Promotion Publication date: Wednesday, 18 May 2005 SecureSphere Provides the Real Alternative in Application Firewalls: Higher Performance and Lower TCO than Reverse Proxies FOSTER CITY, CA – May 18, 2005 – Imperva, Inc., the developer of the world’s first Dynamic Profiling Firewall, today announced a promotion to help organizations more easily migrate from legacy reverse proxy application firewalls to Imperva’s application firewall – SecureSphere. Unlike the recently announced forced migration of Watchfire AppShield customers to the F5 TrafficShield product, this promotion offers a real alternative, not just a case of ”different vendor, same architectural problems.” As a part of the promotion, Imperva offers access to a project plan that shows how to accomplish the migration in 28 days or less. In addition, Imperva is extending an offer of free deployment and migration services and 1 year support for any customer that replaces their legacy reverse proxy deployment with SecureSphere. By replacing their legacy reverse proxy application firewalls with SecureSphere, organizations can dramatically reduce their total cost of ownership (TCO) with a solution that requires no changes to their existing network and application infrastructure and no on-going manual tuning. Moreover, SecureSphere has significantly better throughput and latency performance than any of the reverse proxy solutions. The Imperva 28-day Reverse Proxy Migration Promotion is available to customers of any reverse proxy based application firewall, including products from Watchfire, Kavado, Teros, NetContinuum and F5 Networks. “Several Imperva customers have already made the switch from legacy reverse proxy technology to the next generation solution embodied in SecureSphere,” said Mike Holmes, Vice President of Sales for Imperva. ”These customers cite increased performance, lower deployment cost, and lower operational overhead as the key benefits they have realized due to the change.” The SecureSphere Dynamic Profiling Firewall secures an enterprise’s data centers by protecting against the all attack vectors - both external and internal Web application and Web services attacks, database breach, and server worm infection. Existing reverse proxy solutions protect against only one or two of these attack vectors. SecureSphere’s unique underlying technologies, Transparent Inspection and Dynamic Profiling, provide multiple deployment advantages over reverse-proxy architectures: Performance SecureSphere’s performance is 5 to 10 times better than reverse proxy implementations for both throughput and latency because Transparent Inspection requires less processing overhead than the reverse-proxy architecture. Lower Deployment Cost Transparent Inspection cuts initial deployment cost because it requires no changes to existing applications, databases, and infrastructure. Competing offerings generally require substantial changes to networking configurations for deployment and in some cases, also require re-development of application modules. Lower Operational Cost SecureSphere has the lowest ongoing total cost of ownership (TCO) since it requires no on-going manual tuning. This unique capability is due to Imperva’s patent-pending Dynamic Profiling technology that uses actual traffic to automatically build models of application and database structure and dynamics, and automatically modifies those models when new versions of the application are released. The result is that administrators do not need to manually revisit their security policy as applications are updated and changed over time. Promotion Logistics Imperva’s 28-day Reverse Proxy Migration promotion is available to current customers of reverse proxy application firewall solutions, including products from Watchfire, Teros, NetContinuum, Kavado, and F5 Networks. The promotion includes free deployment and migration to a new Imperva SecureSphere Dynamic Profiling Firewall system, as well as one year of Level 1 maintenance and support. Interested customers should contact Imperva or their authorized Imperva reseller. About Imperva, Inc.
