During the three days of deliberations by the police officials of various states it has been unanimously resolved that an apex body at state and national levels should be set up under IT Act and steps be taken to review the existing one by identifying the shortcomings that hampers the prevention, investigation and detection of cyber crime. Reading the resolutions adopted on the concluding day of the 35th All-India Police Science Congress, Director General of Bureau of Police Research and Development, Sarabjit Singh said that since the existing IT Act contained various anomalies and was not competitive to meet the emerging challenges of cyber crimes, the congress was of the view for an early suitable amendments in the Act.
Apart from the challenges before the police due to growing trend of cyber crime the other issue the congress discussed was officer-oriented work culture and constable oriented manpower structure, Singh said adding that the congress resolved that existing qualification of high school pass for recruitment of constable may not be changed but additional marks or advances increments could be given for higher educational qualified constabulary.
