BindView Selected by CIITE to Drive IT Security Compliance Training Publication date: Wednesday, 11 May 2005 Consortium for Indian Information Technology Education Chooses BindView to Design Curriculum to Train 3.5 Million Students on IT Security Compliance Best Practices HOUSTON – May 10, 2005 – Advancing its position as a global leader in IT security compliance solutions, BindView Corp. (NASDAQ:BVEW) announced today that it has been selected by the Consortium for Indian Information Technology Education (CIITE) to develop a video-based IT curriculum to train the Consortium’s 3.5 million students over the next three years. Working with CIITE, a national agency that introduces modern methods of IT education to member institutions based in India, BindView has developed a video-based training curriculum and coursework on Internet security, vulnerability management and regulatory compliance best practices for students at 6,500 different institutions across 18,000 locations throughout India. In addition to classroom instruction, BindView products will be used for securing individual IT infrastructures of these institutions, which in aggregate includes more than 80,000 servers and 500,000 desktops. BindView has also developed an advanced Internet security compliance curriculum. CIITE anticipates 800,000 of these students will enroll in advanced certification coursework over the next two years, upon completion of the basic training program. CIITE conducted an extensive, year-long evaluation of proposals from leading IT security vendors, including in-depth evaluations of software solutions and video-based training materials, ultimately selecting BindView to develop the curriculum, and the company expects to establish BindView methodology as the de facto IT security compliance standard for all of India. The training program will cover timely Internet security topics including vulnerability management, risk and threat management, Internet policy management and others. After attending the CIITE/BindView training program, members can appear for Internet Security certification exams. “India is now a leading destination for outsourced IT services and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and there is an urgent need for training on IT security and compliance best practices to meet the growing demand,” said BindView President and Chief Operating Officer Arshad Matin. “Organizations like CIITE are looking for proven IT security compliance methodologies like BindView’s to create a best practices framework for large-scale training and professional development that Indian software and services companies are bringing to their U.S. and European IT and BPO customers. This highly competitive transaction galvanizes BindView’s position as a market leader and provides significant long-term opportunities in this high-profile market.” According to Matin, “while the contract value will not have a significant impact on the company’s financial results in Q2 of 2005, we believe it marks the beginning of a continuing and successful relationship with CIITE.” “Our selection of BindView was based on a thorough understanding of the company’s superior products, capabilities and expertise, as well as its commitment to our mission and goals,” said CIITE Executive Director Professor Ainul Attar. “Early in the process, BindView demonstrated a strong interest in CIITE. Our member institutions will receive unparalleled skills based on BindView’s security compliance methodologies. With emphasis in India on developing strong IT skills, we anticipate 800,000 students will seek advanced certification. We expect the BindView brand to become synonymous with IT security compliance throughout our country.” The selection of BindView to lead these important programs comes at a time of unprecedented growth in the India IT market. In a joint study issued by India’s NASSCOM and McKinsey & Company, analysts estimate the Indian IT market is expected to grow to U.S. $87 billion in 2008, from U.S. $16.5 billion in 2003, resulting in an urgent need for highly skilled IT security professionals who can put their skills to work in India and in other countries. CIITE’s three-year security compliance training program, codenamed “Project Galaxy II,” will devote $40 million toward Project Galaxy II.
