Snaring the scammers

Psst! Buddy, have I got a deal for you!" Such was the offer that triggered a personal crusade to find an online auction fraudster.

As a long-time computer journalist and auction buff, Paul Zucker has seen his share of internet scams. But one email from a new eBay "friend" annoyed him so much, Zucker decided to fight back.

As with most scams, the proposed deal was just too good to be true - a brand new plasma TV at a ridiculous price. Just send the money, the seller would later urge, the TV is on its way. Promise.
