Chipmaker Releases Open Source WLAN Security Software Monday, 02 May 2005, 17:03 GMT WLAN chipmaker Atheros Communications said Monday that it will release its wireless security software on a free, open source basis. Aimed device vendors, the JumpStart Developer's Kit and related software will enable rapid development of security software that the vendors can include for configuring the security aspects of WLAN products, the company said. "We're taking aggressive steps to make our secure configuration software available on an open source basis because it benefits the wireless LAN industry as a whole and therefore helps Atheros and our customers," Craig Barratt, Atheros' president and CEO, said in a statement.
