Monday, 05 April 2004, 11:15 GMT

Music is pirated every day over the Internet. Can the mobile phone networks do a better job of protecting artists' rights? Record labels will soon find out. On Wednesday, T-Mobile of Germany is starting Mobile Jukebox, a service that will allow customers in Britain, Germany and Austria to download 90-second to 120-second versions of their favorite tracks onto mobile phones.
