StillSecure's Chief Strategy Officer Elected to the Open Source Snort® Rules Consortium (OSSRC) Board of Directors

(Louisville, Colo. – November 15, 2005) – StillSecure, provider of an integrated suite of enterprise network security solutions, today announced that Alan Shimel, Chief Strategy Officer, was elected to the Open Source Snort Rules Consortium (OSSRC) Board of Directors. The OSSRC Board directs the strategic efforts of the OSSRC. The OSSRC is responsible for establishing metrics and standards for open source Snort rule development, providing a forum for sharing research and information for effective Snort rule development, and ensuring continuous support for a Snort ruleset licensed under the GPL.
Mr. Shimel was elected by a majority vote from OSSRC members and will serve a minimum of two years on the Board. As a Board member, he will be responsible for helping set overall policy for the OSSRC, introducing proposals that will be voted on by general membership, and overseeing the three Board committees. These include: the Quality Assurance and Standards Committee, the Rule Maintenance Committee, and the Administrative Committee.
