Helps to reduce capital investment, technical complexity while speeding time to market of revenue boosting subscriber offerings
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill .- 19 September 2005 - Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced that Motorola Networks, advancing its position as a strategic network services provider, is launching Motorola Applications Hosting Services, a comprehensive hosted application management and delivery solution aimed at mobile network operators (MNO’s) and mobile virtual network operators (MVNO’s). Motorola Applications Hosting Services enables operators to more efficiently and quickly launch new subscriber offerings via a single point of access to offer a wide portfolio of compelling data services and content options, as well as to provide the complete and secure delivery and management of those applications.
Drawing upon its breadth of industry technical and market expertise, Motorola Application Hosting Services offers operators the ability to capitalize on shorter consumer trend lifecycles in the form of new applications and content. If handled in-house, application development and deployment is often a slow, complex and capital intensive effort that can be a big drain on operator capital and resources. Motorola is able to reduce the risks associated with this process for operators and also provide better intelligence into subscriber trends and usage, so operators can make smarter decisions about which applications to deploy.
“All carriers are continually in search of that next great offering that will drive more subscribers to their network and also increase customer loyalty and revenue. Motorola Applications Hosting Services offers carriers a seamless path through that process and a straighter line to increased return on investment, all with reduced complexity and a lower upfront capital investment,” said Sri Kannankote, Motorola’s corporate vice president, Network Services and Applications Management. “Our proposition to operators is simple: focus on your subscribers’ wants and needs and let us manage the technical and logistical process of fulfilling them.”
Through Motorola’s heritage in the telecoms and wireless industries, Motorola Applications Hosting Services is able to provide a single point of navigation for operators through the wireless value chain. To this end, Motorola Applications Hosting Services has teamed with End2End to provide the applications hosting component of the offering. End2End is a leading managed solution provider for mobile data and services.
Motorola’s data services development environment is built on Motorola’s Global Application Management Architecture (GAMA), a service delivery solution that simplifies application development by providing a single, unified management environment for all backend technologies and operations. Being both device and network-bearer independent, GAMA enables development of applications that work with existing infrastructure and then can easily adapt when upgrading handset, network or server technologies.
Specifically, Motorola Applications Hosting Services includes the following components:
§ Content and Application Sourcing: An extensive range of the latest, ready-to-launch rich content and value-added applications, along with access to many of the world’s most popular content developers, as well as native Motorola applications such as Push-To-Talk over Cellular (PoC) and Push-To-X services
§ Data Services Delivery: A robust, comprehensive solution for rapidly developing, managing and delivering rich data content and applications. This service-enabling infrastructure serves as a single integration point to the profusion of networks, gateways and backend systems that drive data services
§ Data Services Management: A complete set of hosting, testing, support, management, and systems integration services provided by a team with proven expertise in global solutions and large-scale deployments
