Argogroup assures the quality of end-to-end 3G video calling
Publication date: Thursday, 14 July 2005

Surrey, UK, 14 July 2005 – Argogroup, the leader in user experience optimisation for mobile services, has announced that it has implemented the first phase of end-to-end 3G video calling over Circuit Switched Data (CSD) into its award winning User Experience Optimization platform Monitor Master.

As 3G becomes more mainstream, services that were little more than novelties under GPRS are becoming viable sources of revenue for the first time. However, the success and quality of these services are the critical factors that determine revenue, profit and customer churn. Argogroup’s Monitor Master works by creating a video call and checking at a protocol level that a video call can be established and sustained between two terminals. This functionality gives operators invaluable visibility of the quality of their service with the intelligence to modify and amend any problems contributing to an unsatisfactory user experience.

Commenting on the announcement, Paul Nerger, senior vice president, Argogroup, said, “Delivering new services quickly is one differentiator which helps operators attract new consumers, but the delivery a consistent, high-quality user experience is the key differentiator to retain customers that are prepared to pay for premium data services – and it isn’t easy. We have always maintained an aggressive schedule to add new and exciting services into each subsequent release of our Monitor Master platform. We must ensure that operators worldwide have the tools at their disposal to assure the quality of the services that they deliver to their customers – both today and tomorrow. Video calling is a good example; our architecture supports the rapid introduction of new protocols and stacks. We were able to quickly add support to test and assess the quality of 3G video calling for the benefit of our customers”.
