iPolicy Intrusion Prevention Firewall Release 2.0 Debuts New GUI for Enterprise Security Publication date: Thursday, 02 June 2005 Milestone release greatly simplifies security configuration and management with new graphical user interface, enhances protection against worms and spyware and adds deployment flexibility FREMONT, Calif. —June 2, 2005—iPolicy Networks, inventor of the Intrusion Prevention Firewall for real-time network protection, today announces the launch of Release 2.0 for the iPolicy Intrusion Prevention Firewall product family and the associated iPolicy Security Manager (ISM) management solution. The iPolicy Intrusion Prevention firewall is a high-performance next-generation multi-function security appliance that protects networks and information assets from attacks, worms, spyware and other forms of malware in real-time. It supports bidirectional Intrusion Detection and Prevention from 140 Megabits per second to 4 Gigabits per second, includes a layer 3-7 stateful firewall, mitigates DoS and DDoS attacks and enforces content and URL filtering. State of the Art Graphical User Interface and Reporting The new management graphical user interface (GUI) is the key usability enhancement introduced by Release 2.0. Configuration and management of all Intrusion Prevention Firewall security functions can be done quickly and intuitively using a new, crisp user interface that also includes an interactive topology map. A wizard leads users through the configuration steps and entries are automatically validated before being accepted. Users can invoke advanced configuration menus to give them access to granular management and control options. “I am very impressed with iPolicy Networks’ new graphical user interface”, said Paul Miner, CEO of Security Inspection Inc., “it is powerful yet intuitive and makes configuring and managing security easy, simplifying the sometimes daunting task of network security administration“. Click here to see a flash demo of the new iPolicy Security Manager GUI. Today, networks connected to the Internet are targeted by ongoing attacks and intrusion attempts. iPolicy Networks arms network administrators with easy to set up and understand graphical monitoring and reporting tools that help administrators measure their security posture and distinguish serious threats and attacks from routine “background” activity, such as port scans. In addition to providing its own reports, iPolicy Networks allows customers to generate reports with the eIQ Network Security Analyzer, a popular syslog-based 3rd party report generation and monitoring tool. State of the art Intrusion Prevention Security enhancements in Release 2.0 focused on improving already strong intrusion prevention. Shipped with over 2,200 attack and vulnerability signatures organized in twenty six categories, the iPolicy Intrusion Prevention Firewall stops attacks and blocks traffic from infected hosts at wire speed. Release 2.0 bolsters protection from spyware, a rising threat in the enterprise. New protection mechanisms and many new signatures were added to specifically block spyware and access to sites that distribute spyware. In addition, Release 2.0 enables customers to safely fine tune their IPS configuration based on actual protocols and traffic characteristics in their network by first using the product in IPS simulation mode. They can identify and eliminate false positives and thus the risk of having some traffic being misidentified as an attack and blocked by mistake. Flexible deployment options iPolicy Release 2.0 increases deployment options for users who want to protect the enterprise perimeter, the data center or internal networks. The iPolicy Intrusion Prevention Firewall may be installed inline, tap or span mode, and as a transparent or a gateway device. Users who prefer to segment their network based on physical ports rather than VLANs can now do so with additional Gigabit Ethernet ports availability. With this release all iPolicy Intrusion Prevention Firewall models support high-availability (HA) with stateful failover in master/slave mode and they support full mesh active/active high-availability as well * Superior Management Solution Supports Virtual Firewalls The power of the iPolicy Networks solution is rooted in the synergy between high-performance enforcement and a sophisticated management system. Belying its ease of use, the iPolicy Security Manager is a highly scalable, flexible, and powerful security management solution. It provides corporate network wide control while allowing co-management and delegated control for autonomous departments within the enterprise. It enforces centrally mandated policies as well policies specific to individual sites or functional groups. With iPolicy Networks, security policies can be applied consistently to all members of a functional group even though its members may be geographically distributed. Function-specific policies defined at the central management console will be automatically enforced by virtual firewalls at each appropriate location. An iPolicy Networks physical appliance can support hundreds of virtual firewalls, each with its own rule set for firewall, IDS/IPS, etc. The key benefit to customers is a management system that provides global security enforcement and a global monitoring view of the enterprise, while offering the flexibility to enforce and manage security on a function or an individual site basis. “Release 2.0 is a milestone for iPolicy ”, said Arun Chandra, CEO of iPolicy Networks,” we have listened to our enterprise customers and implemented their suggestions to deliver a powerful, easy to configure and easy to use security solution. Our customers and partners are enthusiastically embracing it. This will be instrumental in propelling the company to the next level in the enterprise market.” Release 2.0 is generally available and ships standard with all new orders. It will be available as a free upgrade to existing customers. * Active/active HA not supported for entry-level 2000 series.
