Mobile Virus Runs Amok
Monday, 8 November 2004 22:33 ESTA malware, SymbOS.Cabir, is spreading through Bluetooth-enabled Smartphones in Mumbai. The virus, which emerged globally in June, affects the overall performance of the device because it keeps scanning for Bluetooth devices nearby and tries to send itself to them.
A potential victim of the virus receives a message "Receive message via Bluetooth from ?" Choosing yes, the user will be prompted with message saying, "Application is untrusted and may have problems. Install only if you trust provider."
