New antivirus to target Linux mailservers
Tuesday, 1 June 2004 18:44 ESTLinux’s increased popularity as the preferred platform for many corporate mail servers means the operating system is becoming increasingly targeted by computer viruses. Looking to capture some of this AV market space, MicroWorld Technologies has released a test version of its Linux antivirus product. Released in May as a beta, MailScan for Linux has been tested on RedHat 8 and RedHat 9. “The product should work without any problem on SuSE and Slackware Distributions which are equivalent with RH8 and RH9,” MicroWorld spokesperson, Kshipra Saxena, said.
MailScan for Linux worked with most GNU/Linux mail servers, she said. Some examples were Sendmail, Postfix, Qmail and Exim.
Saxena said the product was the only Linux-based AV which supplied antivirus and anti-spam tools bundled together.
