Enterasys to introduce new Wireless Security Solution

Enterasys Networks introduced today its next-generation secure wireless solution that delivers policy control to protect data from unauthorized access over a high-performance wireless infrastructure. The solution provides the enterprise the most comprehensive integrated wireless and wired solution with high levels of security and control.

The solution provides businesses a flexible and cost-effective solution to integrate wireless into wired infrastructure without compromising security and performance.

“In order for enterprises to realize the full business benefits of wireless technology, the wireless network must deliver the same level of reliability and security as wired networks. It's that ability to deliver the full capabilities of Secure Networks that distinguishes our next-generation secure wireless solution from anything available in the market today," said John Roese, CTO of Enterasys Networks.

The major two features of the new solution are Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and Dynamic Intrusion Response (DIR). AUP enables network administrators to deploy granular security policies down to the individual device and user level, based on the user’s role in the organization. DIR is industry’s first solution that actively responds in real time to network threats. It enables network managers to quickly identify security threats on the Wireless network before they impact on the wired network.

"Security, control, and a path to an integrated wireless and wired network with common controls and a comprehensive approach to dealing with hostile entities are in demand in enterprise networks," said Abner Germanow, research manager at IDC. "WLAN and security technologies continue to evolve rapidly, creating the need to carefully evaluate solutions that can support new generations of functionality."
