Infonetics Report Declares IntruShield the Revenue Leader in Inline Network IDS/IPS Products for All of 2004, Continuing McAfee's Global Leadership Position

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 6 McAfee, Inc. (NYSE: MFE), the pioneer and worldwide leader of intrusion prevention solutions, today announced it has reached yet another milestone in IPS by being named the worldwide in-line network intrusion prevention revenue market share leader for all of 2004. According to the recently published Infonetics Research report titled "Intrusion Detection and Prevention Products Quarterly Worldwide Market Share & Forecasts," McAfee® IntruShield® led the global IPS market in revenue market share for the calendar year 2004.
"McAfee continues to deliver innovative, highly-accurate, feature-rich and scalable IPS products," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst at Infonetics Research. "The technical merits of their IPS products coupled with McAfee's exclusive security focus and global presence make them a compelling choice for IPS buyers."

Today's announcement is yet another achievement for the McAfee IntruShield network IPS product family, adding to similar reports from well-known research firms including Gartner, IDC and Frost & Sullivan. Recognition from leading industry analysts, product awards and third-party endorsements, makes McAfee IntruShield the most renowned provider of IPS and the product-of-choice for organizations of all sizes that require proactive network security to defend their networks against the full spectrum of today's security threats.

The market for proactive security solutions continues to experience significant growth, with network IPS solutions becoming a mainstream security technology and an integral part of an enterprise's security architecture. According to Infonetics, the estimated five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for network-based IPS is 76%, with a projected growth rate of 99% from 2004 to 2005 alone. In addition, the IPS market is forecasted to grow to more than USD 1.2 billion in revenues by the year 2008.

"McAfee IntruShield continually raises the bar on the competition for IPS, and the report from Infonetics is proof that customers look to McAfee more than anyone else for proactive security solutions. We are the only vendor that truly delivers on the promise of comprehensive protection for customers of all sizes," said Vimal Solanki, director of product marketing at McAfee, Inc. "McAfee is committed to delivering best-in-class security solutions and demonstrates the momentum and acceptance of our award-winning IPS with our extensive and unequaled customer base and the largest deployment base of any IPS solution world-wide."

IntruShield's unparalleled success and broad customer adoption can be attributed to McAfee's commitment to providing customers with the industry's most accurate and scalable IPS solution that protects business availability and confidentiality from the threat of known, zero-day, DoS/DDoS and encrypted attacks.
