Gil Shwed, Check Point's chief executive, makes it clear that although viruses will get more sophisticated, the Internet as a whole is still in very good shape.

Call Gil Shwed an optimistic pessimist.

The CEO of Check Point Software Technologies expects the sophistication of virus writers to improve -- but he's not particularly worried about the Internet's ability to withstand major attacks.
