AMD Trumps Intel

Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices made its latest claim to the title of fastest PC microprocessor today, when it announced a pair of new chips aimed at the high end of the PC market.
AMD's latest chips, the Athlon 64 FX-55 and the Athlon 64 4000+, were announced only days after rival Intel said it would scrap plans to build a version of its Pentium 4 PC microprocessor with a clock speed of 4 gigahertz that had been expected for release at the end of this year.
