Saflink Teams with Microsoft in Security Software

Saflink makes biometric software for such applications as fingerprint scans and other security features. The deal aims to combine Saflink's software with Microsoft's business software. "Together, we provide a compelling solution for Homeland Security programs involving biometrics, smart cards, tamper-proof identities and physical security controls," said Mark Belk, Microsoft's chief architect for homeland security software. The deal is expected to help Saflink get more government contracts, said Rodman & Renshaw analyst Edward Ching. "Most government computers and servers are running on Microsoft," he said. "This allows Saflink to develop (software) for physical access to government agencies."
Last month, the company said the U.S. Department of Defense ordered its security software including fingerprint readers for more than 250 users.
