Microsoft Corp. recently issued a security update for a 'Denial of Service' vulnerability that exists in the IDirectPlay4 application programming interface (API) of its DirectPlay, according to a statement on the company's website. According to security firm Symantec, this flaw is due to a failure of the affected library to properly handle malformed network data.
The company releases security updates once every month, but this month's offering was relatively less alarming than usual. It released only two patches, both rated moderate.
