Smart way to secure company monitors

These days, with the high cost of PCs and monitors, companies are facing a bigger problem than just the theft of pencils and paper. With more and more companies opting for LCD monitors for company workstations, Royal Philips Electronics has come up with an innovative solution that helps prevent LCD monitor theft in companies. Called SmartManage, the new system is being touted by Philips as the first asset management system that works down to the monitor level.
“Most companies have asset management on the PC level, but we’re the first to do it on the monitor level,” says Meech Aspden, regional marketing director for Philips’ multimedia displays.
Essentially, SmartManage is a combination of both hardware embedded in Philips monitors and software resident on a company’s server.
