Netsky, Bagle worms top malware charts

Variants of the Netsky and Bagle worms have more or less taken over the top 10 spots in the monthly top ten rankings issued by anti-virus company Sophos. The authors of the two worms have an ongoing tiff and variants have been emerging quite rapidly. Eight new entries were among the top, all of them either Netsky or Bagle variants. One Netsky variant, Netsky-D, topped the list. The only outsider on the list was one of the MyDoom worms.

Email security firm MessageLabs recorded Netsky-C as its most frequently spotted worm over the last four weeks. MessageLabs had a number of other worms show up in its top 10, such as MyDoom, Dumaru, Klez, Mimail and Sobig but Netsky-C and Netsky-B had a massive presence compared to the others.
