Tools secure thin clients


Thin client maker Neoware is linking up with authentication tool vendor ActivCard to offer better security to Neoware customers. The two companies have announced plans to jointly develop and market products that offer security to users accessing applications via Neoware terminals. The first products are aimed chiefly at retailers, but will also attract interest from many other firms that have deployed server-based computing systems.

Firms using Neoware's thin client software and appliances can now improve security by using ActivCard's strong authentication kit, which includes smartcards, USB keys and security token devices. The combination lets workers hotdesk, gaining full access to their Windows applications from any device or location, the duo said.
