Security Flaws Within Yahoo Messenger

The purpose of this paper is to discuss some of the known security flaws within Yahoo Messenger (YM). Currently the popular software is up to version 5.6 (PC) YM remains one of the triumvirate of leading player in the Instant Messaging arena. For those of you unfamiliar with Instant Messaging (and there can't be too many of you on the surface of the planet!) YM and it's primary competitors AOL and MSN connect remote users to a central server, where they can engage in real time voice, data and video conversations.
