Red Hat postpones first 2.6-based Linux

The Linux firm has delayed launching the first version of Linux based on the new kernel till later this week. Red Hat hoped to release a first test version of Linux based on the new 2.6 kernel on Monday, but has delayed the move until later in the week. "In short, it's not working quite well enough to push out yet," Red Hat developer Bill Nottingham said on Sunday on a mailing list about the test1 version of Fedora Core 2.
Red Hat uses the Fedora version to try to hasten the maturity of new features that later will be included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Fedora Core 2 is scheduled for final release on April 5.
