Net virus threat to millions


Millions of computer users in Britain were today being warned to prepare for an attack from the fastest growing virus ever. The Mydoom worm - already "infecting" one in four emails sent over the internet - is expected to hit the Microsoft website today and try to cripple it. The worm can attack any personal computer by stopping access to the internet, blocking email and creating a "back door" for hackers to get into the machine.

The effect could be even worse for PCs running Microsoft Windows - as 90 per cent of the world's computers do - because users will not be able to get help from the company's website if the virus causes it to crash.
