Wireless PC card sales on the up


Strong business and consumer demand for wireless local and wide area network access has created a surge in demand for wireless kit, according to new research. A report from market watcher In-Stat/MDR said that 30 per cent of respondents who have, or plan to purchase, a notebook computer currently use a wireless 802.11x PC card, while 37 per cent indicated that they plan to use one in the future.

"To make the most out of this market, PC card providers ... should price products in the $50 to $100 price range, distribute through carrier and consumer channels, and support multiple device types," said Becky Diercks, research director at In-Stat/MDR.
