Firms aim to tighten Linux security Friday, 24 September 2004 16:30 EST
Mandrakesoft and several other Linux backers are to work together to build a version of the operating system that will be far more secure than previously available.
The project, valued at EUR7 million over three years and funded by the French Ministry of Defence, will be conducted by a consortium which includes Bertin Technologies, Surlog, Jaluna, Oppida and Mandrakesoft. Under the terms of the contract, the consortium will develop a secure operating system based on Linux which meets the Evaluation Assurance Level 5 of the Common Criteria (CC-EAL5).
